Heather Roper

Project Portfolio

As the lead designer for NASA's OSIRIS-REx Mission, I was responsible for creating a variety of content used in public engagement and marketing, much of which needed to convey complex scientific concepts to the general public. During my 7+ years with the asteroid sample return mission, I was responsible for coordinating with my team to create a marketing and communications plan, establishing and upholding the brand identity for a world-renowned space mission, and working directly with mission partners (such as NASA and Lockheed Martin), outside organizations, vendors, and film & media crews. I also supported the team during mission-critical events, taught the public about the mission through in-person public engagement events, and curated spacecraft imagery for public consumption. My role included intermitent photography, photo & video editing, display design, and use of traditional art mediums.

In 2020 alone, these and other graphics that I've created for NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission have, combined, recieved tens of millions of impressions on the Official OSIRIS-REx Twitter account.
